THE DRAFT SYNOPSIS
LOG LINE: Jack, a young Afro man whose dreams of a hockey career were shattered by a racist attack, places his aspirations in the hands of his gifted younger brother, Will, a part of the new generation. Yet, they must navigate the looming narrative of racial prejudice and police dominance in Montreal.
SYNOPSIS: In his early twenties, Jack, an Afro-Canadian, is on the brink of an NHL career. Preparing to embark on this journey with his Caucasian teammate, Wade, their lives are forever altered when they fall victim to a brutal assault by four masked white supremacists. Jack's injuries force him into early retirement from the sport he loves. A decade later, Jack has found success in the business world, is happily married to Rachel, and eagerly awaits the arrival of their child. Despite his own setbacks, Jack channels his time, energy, and resources into nurturing the budding talent of his younger brother, Will, with the hope of seeing him drafted into the NHL.
However, Jack has never wavered in his determination to seek justice against those who ended his hockey career. He enlists the help of Museau, the same detective investigating their assault, to lead him to the culprits responsible. Over the years, Jack and Museau have forged an unconventional partnership, pursuing a side venture to bolster their finances. Jack's ultimate goal is to secure funding from African entrepreneurs and utilize the proceeds from stolen drugs from biker gangs to establish a groundbreaking Black Hockey League.
